School finance staff told the board on June 10 they have signed up for Branching Minds, a cloud-based student data warehouse intended to consolidate assessment, intervention, and special-education records so educators can make faster, data-driven decisions across pre-K–22.
"This gives us a repository, an opportunity to bring it all together into one centralized location," the presenter said, adding the system will reduce staff time spent pulling files from eight different places and allow intervention teams and classroom teachers to see the same information. The board heard the system will better support individualized instruction and follow students as they move through the district.
Separately, school staff said they will seek board approval at a special Board of Education meeting to proceed with a proposed HR/talent-management software purchase. The first-year cost was stated at $45,000 with a lower renewal price in year two; staff said the purchase would be funded from a professional education services account if the board approves.
Why it matters: District officials framed both purchases as investments in operational efficiency and student outcomes. The Branching Minds platform was described as enabling quicker instructional adjustments and better tracking of interventions for students with Individualized Education Programs. The proposed HR system was presented as a way to consolidate employee files, streamline recruiting and onboarding, and support evaluation and professional growth.
Budget context: Presenters said these software commitments were being considered while the district maintains a projected surplus and a budget hold for the month. Board members discussed sequencing and whether software purchases should be prioritized now or deferred until major capital decisions (notably the boiler) are resolved.
Next steps: The board of education will vote on the HR software at a special meeting; the finance board will review any capital or transfer requests after final bid and budget figures are available.
