Votes at a glance: Commissioners approve right-of-way abandonments, FY2027 budget, tax rate and property transactions

At its June 8 meeting the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners recorded votes on several agenda items. Below are the items, brief descriptions and vote tallies as taken in open session.

AB1-2026 (partial right-of-way abandonment — Cunningham Ridge Road): motioned by Commissioner Joe Smith, seconded by Commissioner Walker; passed 20–0.

AB2-2026 (partial right-of-way abandonment — Grimes Road): motioned by Commissioner Shelton, seconded by Commissioner Ray; passed 20–0.

AB4-2026 (partial right-of-way abandonment): motioned by Commissioner Pritchard, seconded by Commissioner Rutter; passed 20–0.

Consent agenda (multiple resolutions including school budget amendments; grant acceptances; lease and maintenance agreements): motioned by Commissioner Bell, seconded by Commissioner Woodruff; passed 20–0.

Resolution 26-6-10 (FY2027 appropriations and nonprofit funding) — passed as amended 19–1. Key amendments: a unanimous 20–0 amendment reduced two EMS part-time positions to fund an EMA operations coordinator (+$103,410) and a later amendment reallocated $75,000 from Arts & Heritage funding to the Montgomery County Library (amendment-to-amend passed 13–7; amendment as amended passed 15–5).

Resolution 26-6-11 (levy tax rate for FY beginning July 1, 2026): motioned by Commissioner Chandler, seconded by Commissioner Shelton; passed 20–0.

Resolution 26-6-12 (suspend rules; accept donated real property and purchase parcels at Guthrie Highway and Arkadelphia Road): suspension of rules passed 20–0; the property resolution was approved 20–0.
