East Limestone fishing team honored after ASABFA state ‘team of the year’ win

The Limestone County Board of Education recognized the East Limestone High School bass fishing team on at its meeting, honoring the squad for winning the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association state "team of the year" title at the state tournament on May 9.
Dr. Sharass praised the team’s season, noting the championship combines four regular-season tournaments with the state event and that the East Limestone team won two regular-season tournaments and finished second in two others. The board said 28 boats competed in the state championship.
Board members called the students forward for photos and thanked coaches and boat captains. Named team members included Presley Carter, Carter Hollis, Kaden Abernathy, Mason Martin and Michael Martin; boat captains were listed as Chris Carter and Shane Hollis. The recognitions were followed by applause and brief congratulatory remarks from board members.
The board moved on to other business after the ceremony.
