Ohio County to host seven-county Senior Games, senior center celebrates 30 years

Brenda reported to the Ohio County Fiscal Court on June 9 that the county will host the seven-county Senior Games and celebrate 30 years of the senior center on Friday, June 12. Opening ceremonies are set for 10:00 a.m., with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and presentations and medals to follow.
Brenda said the senior program currently delivers homebound meals to about 70 clients, runs congregate meals at multiple sites, and provides transportation units across the county. The county secured a Beaverdale Tourism grant to fund the Senior Games event so it will not cost the county. Expected speakers include Judge David Johnston, Mayor Sanifer, Mayor Wright, Kenny Williams of GRAD, and state officials from the Department for Aging and Independent Living; Representative Brett Guthrie is expected to attend.
Brenda invited the court and the public to the opening ceremony and the noon luncheon. No formal action was taken on the report; it was received as informational.
