Eastham CPA authorizes up to $2,000 for new signage, QR-code outreach

The Eastham Community Preservation Committee voted to authorize up to $2,000 from its administrative account for a mix of outreach signage, including small 8×12 wooden signs, stick-in-ground signs for outdoor placement and retractable roll-up banners.
Members discussed two options: a smaller wooden sign modeled on the town’s existing larger signs (quoted informally at about $100 each with a price break at 10) and a retractable banner (approximate product quote of $119 before tax and shipping). Kristen noted the rollup includes a stand and that the banner would be easy to move between events such as Windmill Weekend and local farmers markets. Several members raised weather and durability concerns for outdoor use and discussed using the rollup indoors or storing it during windy conditions.
The committee also discussed adding a QR code to signage to link directly to CPA application materials and past meeting recordings. Members noted some weather-grade sign vendors offer UV-treated, fade-resistant QR treatments but that engraving or adding a QR code to wooden signs could change cost and durability.
Joanna moved to authorize up to $2,000 for Kristen to procure two stick-in-ground signs and up to 10 smaller signs (and up to two rollup banners as needed), with remaining funds returning to the administrative account; Bob seconded. The motion passed unanimously (6–0). Staff will research weather-resistant QR options and return cost details if the vendor recommends changes.
