Commission accepts FAA grants and approves funding for taxiway Bravo phase two

City staff and Airport Director David Pard briefed the Commission June 10 on federal grants supporting airport capital projects and requested authorization to accept an FAA grant to support safety, security and capacity improvements.
Pard summarized the airport’s recent success in attracting roughly $125 million in federal and state funds over recent years and noted a recent $2.8 million resiliency award to underground electric infrastructure that will support electrification and EV charging expansion at the airport. Commissioners unanimously authorized acceptance of the grant award.
The Commission also approved adjustments and funding for phase two of the airport’s taxiway Bravo project, work the airport split into two phases after bids and funding strategies required phasing. Staff reported the phase‑two cost estimate reduced from initial bid line‑items to $12,770,030 after schedule and value adjustments; approved funding included construction inspection services and a 7.5% contingency. Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the funding and proceed.
Outcome: Authorization to accept FAA grant funds and to proceed with phase two of taxiway Bravo improvements, with staff directed to execute required grant and construction agreements.
