County officials brief supervisors on election schedule, emergency exercise and holiday park use

County officials provided operational updates to the Board of Supervisors during the May 26 meeting.
County Auditor David Troester said his office will be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for early absentee voting ahead of the primary, with absentee voting concluding the following Monday before Election Day. Treasurer Johnson reminded residents that the annual tax sale list will be published next week and encouraged arrangements for delinquent taxes.
Emergency Management Coordinator Chance Kness gave preliminary feedback from a recent FEMA-evaluated radiological emergency preparedness exercise tied to the nearby nuclear power plant, saying FEMA evaluators recognized the county’s traffic and access control coordination efforts involving the Sheriff’s Office, Secondary Roads and State Patrol. Supervisor George noted all three supervisors participated in the exercise.
Conservation Director Phil reported a successful Memorial Day weekend with campgrounds operating at or near full capacity and thanked the Sheriff’s Office for assistance. Supervisor Irwin described several upcoming meetings he will attend, including Mississippi Valley Workforce Development and Board of Health sessions. Supervisor Srp said he would participate remotely in the June 1 meeting because of a scheduling conflict.
