Clinton County sets June 8 rezoning hearing near Calamus and approves Geffre Homestead final plat

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors on May 18 set a June 8 public hearing to consider changing a northern county parcel from A-1 (Prime Agriculture) to M-1 (Limited Industrial) so the property may be used for automotive body repair and restoration.
Planning & Zoning Administrator Thomas Barnes told the board that minor automotive services such as oil changes and brake work do not require rezoning, but body repair and painting operations do. The board approved Resolution 2026-108 to set the public hearing for 9:30 a.m. June 8 in Conference Room B at the Clinton County Administration Building and authorized Barnes to publish the required notice.
Separately, the board approved Resolution 2026-109 granting final plat approval for the Geffre Homestead (Jeffrey Subdivision), an approximately 23-acre parcel zoned AR-1 southwest of DeWitt. Barnes said the proposal creates a single residential lot intended for a new residence and was recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission; the chair was authorized to sign the plat prior to recording.
