Clinton County awards FY2027 rural transportation grants to four towns

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously May 26 to adopt Resolution 2026-113 and accept the Rural County Transportation Program ranking committee’s recommendations for Fiscal Year 2027.
The board awarded a total of $57,364.80 to four small towns: Delmar received $25,000 for Delmar Avenue resurfacing; Toronto received $5,164.80 for sidewalk improvements; Welton received $11,200 for street patching; and Wheatland received $16,000 for street sidewalk improvements. The resolution also sets aside $5,000 for ECIA administration costs and carries $12,365.20 forward to FY2028 from the program’s $75,000 annual allocation.
The program was established to help small cities in Clinton County complete transportation-related projects and the board said it is making an effort to distribute limited resources equitably across communities. The board accepted the committee ranking and approved the awards on a roll call vote of Irwin: Yes; George: Yes; Srp: Yes.
The awards will be administered through the county’s Rural Transportation Program and ECIA, per the resolution language. The county did not specify additional timelines for project start or completion in the meeting record.
