Kenosha County youth honored; student team says hygiene‑kit drive collected more than 1,200 items

Kenosha County recognized outgoing Youth and Governance members and swore in the 2026‑27 group during Monday's board meeting.
Camille Carlson, the county's positive youth development educator, introduced student speakers who described the program and a year‑long service project aimed at addressing hygiene needs for people experiencing homelessness. Timothy Kudesv (introduced as Timothy Kudesv), Ethan Drain and Andrew Serta said they used a $500 youth resources grant and local donation drives to assemble standardized hygiene kits and reported collecting more than 1,200 hygiene items. The students said they audited inventory to ensure each kit had consistent supplies and extended the project timeline to improve processes and distribution logistics.
Timothy told the board the project required more than 75 hours of volunteer time per student and emphasized outreach to local businesses and community organizations for donation bins and volunteer support. The students said they worked with county extension resources to create a website and promotional materials and coordinated with local service providers including the Shalom Center for distribution.
The board applauded the students' efforts and presented certificates to outgoing members before posing for group photos.
