The Select Board on May 18 unanimously adopted an updated environmentally preferred procurement policy intended to meet state grant requirements and to reinforce municipal preference for recycled content, reuse and avoidance of unnecessary purchases.
The Board also confirmed several Department of Public Works bid awards and project managers: Socotec AE Consulting was approved as owner's project manager for the McCarthy Middle School roof project ($75,000); C&K Roofing was awarded a Center Elementary School partial roof replacement ($117,700); UEL Contractors received the 2026 drainage improvements contract ($374,314); JP and Sons was selected for a sump pump project ($28,250); Sealcoating Inc. was awarded micro-surfacing work ($206,147); and Frederico Corp. was awarded Hart Pond ADA beach access improvements ($133,372). The Board discussed bid responsiveness and references in several cases and voted to confirm the manager/town manager recommendations by voice vote.
The Board asserted that the procurement actions fall within project budgets and asked staff to continue managing project schedules and contractor oversight.
