The Select Board and the Chelmsford Housing Authority met jointly on May 18 to fill a vacancy and to consider an intermunicipal memorandum of understanding documenting the Authority's role in affordable housing services.
Two applicants were identified for the Housing Authority vacancy: Taryn Angel and Wendy Crandall. After brief remarks from both candidates, Lynn Marcella nominated Wendy Crandall; a second nomination was made for Taryn Angel. A roll-call vote followed and the Board selected Wendy Crandall to fill the vacancy.
Town Manager Paul explained that the memorandum of understanding memorializes a long-standing operational arrangement in which the Housing Authority assists the town with monitoring, compliance, development and administration of subsidized housing lists and 40B reporting. He said the agreement, prepared by Christina Anderson of the Housing Authority, carries no compensation and can be terminated by either party. The Board moved to accept the memorandum and voted unanimously.
The joint meeting was then adjourned, and the Select Board continued with other agenda items in open session.
