Carroll County wins $63,000 state capital grant for dog park at 2185 Kensington Road

Linda Wickline, Carroll County economic development director, announced on Thursday that the county has been awarded $63,000 from the state capital budget to build a dog park at 2185 Kensington Road behind the dog pound. “We were awarded uh 63,000 state capital budget bill um award for a dog park in Carol County,” Wickline said.
Wickline said the planned facility will include two shelters with benches and separate areas for large and small dogs, plus two ADA parking spaces and ADA‑compliant sidewalks connecting to shelter pads. She said the county also applied for an Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) grant to supplement the $63,000 state award.
The director said she expects the park to increase traffic near the pound and help drive adoptions. “It will definitely enhance, I think, adoptions out of the pound with more traffic in there and, um, dog lovers going there,” Wickline said.
Next steps include finalizing grant paperwork and coordinating site work behind the dog pound. Wickline did not provide a construction timetable; the county said it will notify the public when further details and a schedule are available.
