Endorrise reports 148 participants and 7,500 specimens, expands outreach and federal research ties

"We currently have 148 study participants enrolled with representation from across 62 towns in Connecticut and I believe two from Massachusetts," Yasmina Kanchich, program manager for Endorrise, told the June meeting. She said the biorepository holds more than 7,500 specimens that have been requested by academic researchers, biotech startups and an international lab.
Endorrise is onboarding Hartford Hospital and expects enrollment there after the hospital finalizes IRB protocols, with a target of beginning enrollment in the coming months. The program has distributed specimens to labs at the Jackson Laboratory and a Boston startup and recently shipped material to a laboratory in Germany, Kanchich said.
Kanchich also described education and outreach efforts: pamphlet materials tailored for adolescents are available in English and Spanish and Endorrise is working with school nurses and Planned Parenthood to expand distribution. She highlighted summer student projects at the Jackson Laboratory that will examine cellular and immune changes before and after surgery and peritoneal fluid surrounding lesions.
Arley, a patient advocate, said Endorrise has secured a presence at the Hartford Yard Goats game on Aug. 2 at 1:30 p.m., with a table and a scoreboard announcement; Representative Gilchrist is scheduled to throw out the first pitch. "It gives us a great opportunity to be seen," Arley said.
Dr. Elis Corttois described plans to co-sponsor a National Institutes of Health (NINDS) workshop in September that would include a dedicated session on endometriosis among discussions of chronic overlapping pain conditions; the goal is to situate endometriosis research within broader pain and neuroimmune research and to diversify funding opportunities.
Endorrise announced a tentative patient-day in-person event focused on holistic care for people with endometriosis, provisionally scheduled for Oct. 17, 2026; organizers said they will share program details as they are finalized. Kanchich asked attendees to contact the program with questions via the Endorrise web page.
Next steps: Hartford Hospital IRB progress and continued enrollment; Endorrise will circulate event details for the Aug. 2 game and the patient-day when dates and logistics are finalized.
