Sheriff Yoder said deputies stopped a dump truck that was operating well over axle weight limits with a gravel load; the sheriff described the vehicle as "28,000-lb overweight with a gravel load on a dump truck." The office will follow the case through the legal process, he said.
Yoder also described a water-main break in the jail's front parking lot. County staff worked with the water department to reroute service and avoid a mandatory boil order; he said the jail never lost water and the only damage was to a recently resurfaced parking area that the city will repair. "They were able to fix that within a few hours and we're up and running," the sheriff said.
The sheriff noted the jail population was about 72 the morning of the meeting. He also told the board he had been working with the historical society to place phased historic photos of the courthouse in the county boardroom, with placards that will explain each image.
