Groveland trustees elect Jan Dempsey chair, confirm officer slate for year

Jan Dempsey was elected chair of the Groveland Library Board at the trustees’ June 10 meeting, succeeding the prior year’s leadership structure.
Trustees took nominations individually rather than voting on a slate. After a nomination and second, members voted unanimously to elect Jan Dempsey as chair. Nancy was nominated and unanimously elected vice chair, Caitlyn was re-elected secretary and Laurel was elected treasurer. Trustees noted that the bylaws require annual nominations rather than automatic continuations of multi-year terms and emphasized that incumbents must be nominated to be re‑elected.
Laurel, the newly elected treasurer, presented the most recent account report from Bartholomew showing ongoing modest investment gains and a $1,350 withdrawal that will be reflected in the next quarterly statement expected in mid‑July. Trustees moved to accept the treasurer’s report and voted unanimously to approve it.
Board members agreed to circulate updated trustee contact information to complete required state filings and to sign the library’s routine contract documents in two copies, one for the trustees and one for town hall, as customary.
The trustees closed that portion of the agenda and moved on to reports and operational items.
