Key approvals included awarding up to $10,000 in New and Expanding Retailer facade/tenant improvement grant funds to BB King Smokehouse (570 W's Edge Boulevard), and awarding a $25,000 50/50 matching commercial façade improvement grant to Champion Crystal Lake LLC at 5150 Northwest Highway (owner Elizabeth Babisol). Staff said both applicants met program eligibility and that budgeted FY2026 funds remain available.
The council also approved ordinances and contract waivers found on the consent agenda, including temporary liquor licensing, a cooperative purchase for a tractor, water well repair contracts, annual sidewalk/curb/pedestrian ramp replacement programs, wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation parts, and several bid awards. Miss Smith recorded abstentions on consent items 9B and 9D.
