Georgetown staff outlines $191,758 trailhead project, Route 113 work and legislative items

Parson's Lane Trail Head and Parking Area: Jean said four alternatives were awarded based on funding received; the project will complete fencing, concrete pad amenities, lighting and landscaping at a total cost of $191,758. She said that cost is covered by two years of Outdoor Recreation Parks & Trails grant funding and two years of community reinvestment funds.
Police and public works facility: foundation work (columns and footers) is in progress, followed by utilities work prioritized as sewer, stormwater then water.
Route 113/State Route 18404 grade-separated intersection: staff said advanced utility work is under way, overhead utilities have been relocated and the project will be completed in 14 phases with a scheduled duration of about 25 months.
Events and community items: Jean announced America 250 signature events and an Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday, June 13, a Juneteenth celebration on June 20, and meetings of the planning commission and America 250 committee.
Legislative update: staff highlighted several state bills to watch, including House Bill 454 (homelessness protections), a Senate substitute for SB161 (behavioral health treatment and oversight), SB310 (disaster recovery fund) and SB338 (removal of the cap on poles and wires tax). Jean noted there are about 10 legislative days remaining in the session and the tracking list will be updated.
What happens next: staff indicated the projects are funded and moving forward; council did not take immediate budget actions at this meeting but will continue to monitor progress and legislative developments.
