The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee accepted an Active Transportation Program (ATP) checklist June 10 for the South Maryvale Road civic center connector pathway and recommended staff include committee feedback in the grant application.
Staff explained the project aims to use ATP funds to complete design and construction of three sections along the city’s active transportation network. Earlier federal funding had been lost and the application will include design phases and construction funding, with special attention to right-of-way needs and an easement requested from Los Valley Sanitary District for one segment.
Public commenter Matt Hartzell said the council had previously narrowed design options for Segment 1 but had not made a final decision; staff said the application will include both parking and no-parking/layout options and that the final alignment will return to BPAC or the council when appropriate.
A committee motion to accept the ATP checklist was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
