Mile High Conservation District approves minutes and financial report; hears project and legislative updates

The Mile High Conservation District board voted to approve its minutes and its financial report at a meeting Monday in the BLDC Building Conference Room. Chair Jack Kambich opened the meeting at 11 a.m., and the board completed routine business before discussing project updates and correspondence.
Cam Balentine moved to approve the minutes as prepared and Don Ueland seconded; the motion carried. During the financial review, John Moodry summarized recent billing and invoices and Kris Hugulet, the district administrator, reviewed reimbursement for services; Don Ueland moved to approve the financial report, which Jack Joyce seconded and the board approved. Moodry also reported that he had moved funds from the County Account into the Regular Checking Account.
The board received brief status updates on Watershed Restoration Coalition projects. Kris Hugulet said Blacktail Creek (riparian restoration planning) showed no change in status; Browns Gulch had a draft task order and budget sent to the Natural Resource Damage Program (NRDP) with no current update; and the Racetrack Aquatics project development showed no change in activity. No 310 forms were submitted for consideration at this meeting.
Under new business, Moodry reported that MT Tech presenter Rayelynn Brandl did not attend; he said Brandl’s project could complement an outdoor classroom event and that he would attempt to get her program materials and invite her to a future meeting. Moodry also updated the board on bills introduced in the current legislative session that could affect conservation districts but did not specify bill numbers in the minutes.
Written reports from the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD), Soil and Water Conservation District partners (SWCD) and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) were supplied in the board packets and reviewed. No reports were submitted by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and the Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks (DFW&P) did not provide a report at this meeting. Correspondence from MACD and DNRC was distributed to supervisors for their consideration.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The minutes were signed and submitted by Kris Hugulet, district administrator, and John Moodry, secretary/treasurer.
