Beverly music students return with high ratings, district says no student left behind on Hershey trip

Administrators announced superior and platinum ratings across ensembles — including top choir awards — and commended students and staff for preparation and performance. Music director Adam Costa and chaperones described the trip logistics and said 111 students and 119 total participants traveled to the festival. Committee members noted they had voted to set aside an in‑state vehicle policy so a smaller van could accompany the trip out of state and allow additional students to participate.
Student speakers who attended the trip said the experience had a formative impact and praised teachers for efforts to secure financial aid for students who otherwise might not have been able to go. One student also reported receiving the competition’s most outstanding vocalist award.
Committee members and the superintendent praised teachers and chaperones for prioritizing student inclusion and for the strong competitive results, which they said reflected years of rebuilding music program capacity since the COVID‑era hiatus.
