Farmingdale trustees remove veteran’s exemption, approve baseball parade and Good Friday walk

Farmingdale trustees unanimously approved three resolutions at their March 28 work session, removing a veteran’s property‑tax exemption and issuing permits for two community events.

Trustee Walter Priestley moved to remove a veteran’s exemption for 2 Arthur Street (49‑224‑3) because the property was sold; Trustee Cheryl Parisi seconded the motion and the board approved it as Resolution #2022‑03‑16. Later, the board approved the Farmingdale Baseball League’s request to hold its Annual Opening Day Parade on Sunday, April 24, 2022, with the parade assembling at the Howitt Baseball fields at 1:30 p.m. and starting at 2:00 p.m. The parade route will proceed from Howitt to Conklin Street, turn left onto Main Street, continue south, and end at Allen Park; Trustee Walter Priestley moved the motion, Deputy Mayor William Barrett seconded it, and the board recorded the action as Resolution #2022‑03‑17.

The board also approved a permit for the Spanish Charismatic Renewal Group from St. Kilian’s to hold a Stations of the Cross walk on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 12:00 noon until about 3:00 p.m., beginning and ending at the St. Kilian School cafeteria and following the route described in the application. Trustee Cheryl Parisi made the motion, Trustee Walter Priestley seconded it, and the board adopted Resolution #2022‑03‑18.

All three measures passed unanimously. The work session minutes record that trustees moved to executive session later in the meeting and then reconvened before adjourning at 9:45 p.m.
