Resident urges Crawford County to expand Planning & Zoning notices and post draft regulations online

Resident Roger Lomshek addressed the Crawford County Board of Commissioners about recent Planning & Zoning procedures and transparency. Lomshek said he discovered a Planning & Zoning meeting only three to four hours before it started, could not find meeting information on the county website or Facebook and asked the board to adopt a resolution requiring notices be posted to the county website and social media as well as the newspaper.
Lomshek also said proposed Planning & Zoning Regulations were not posted publicly and urged the board to ensure regulations apply broadly (he cited noise pollution and data centers as examples). He asked that monthly Planning & Zoning meetings allow public input rather than limiting comment to occasional larger meetings.
Commissioner Tom Moody agreed broader public notice would be beneficial and asked County Counselor Jim Emerson to review the matter. Commissioner Carl Wood said that state statute requires publication 21 days before certain items, and County Clerk Lisa Lusker explained where Planning & Zoning materials are posted on the county website and stated she believed the proposed regulations had been posted.
