Council approves Neighborhood Assistance Act application listing local nonprofits

The Trumbull Town Council unanimously approved Resolution TC31-43 on June 1 to act as the municipality applicant for the State of Connecticut’s Neighborhood Assistance Act program and to include several local nonprofit applicants.
The approved resolution lists program requests for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut ($15,000), Mutual Housing Association of Southwestern Connecticut ($91,800), Saint Vincent’s Medical Center ($150,000), Patrons of Trumbull Nature & Arts Center, Inc. ($10,520) and four applications from The Kennedy Collective totaling $145,000. Gia Mentillo of the Economic & Community Development Department explained the town serves as the applicant and liaison to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for these nonprofit submissions. The L&A Committee had voted unanimously to pass the item without recommendation.
The council opened and closed a public hearing on the application at 9:38 p.m. with no members of the public speaking to the item. By unanimous consent the council adopted the resolution and then passed it as emergency legislation.
