Fayville Park dog park and splash pad advance; parking study and application revisions under way

The recreation commission presented progress on proposed improvements at Fayville (Herald Fay Memorial) Park — including a dog park and a splash pad for children — and emphasized parking as the project's principal outstanding concern.
"Parking is the number one concern for that project," said Kristen Lava, vice chair representing recreation. The commission said it engaged the project architect (Activitas) to run a parking study and plans to revise the CPC application later in June based on the study's options.
Recreation leaders told the CPC that they would only move the project forward with CPC support and that parking arrangements will be coordinated with the Select Board and the town's facilities or DPW where deeded parking spaces and on-street options exist. The commission said it plans to socialize a revised proposal over the summer and expects to present a finalized application once parking and maintenance responsibilities are more clearly defined.
CPC members reminded proponents to provide firm budgets, contingency plans and a long-term maintenance plan stating who will be responsible for upkeep after CPA funds are spent. The meeting record shows proponents expect to update the application this month and to consult with CPC staff on implementation details before the June 30 revised-application deadline.
