Road master outlines spring work plan; supervisors defer purchase of used boom mower; park, historical society plans advance

Road Master Matt Henderson briefed the Lynn Township Board of Supervisors on April work and the May schedule at the May 14 meeting, and the board discussed several related equipment and park matters.
Henderson said crews finished sweeping roads, spread swept stone and millings on Hummingbird Road, replaced a pipe on Ontelaunee Road and continued widening Stoney Ridge Road during April. Anticipated work for May includes finishing the Stoney Ridge widening, replacing three additional pipes on Ontelaunee Road, starting shoulder and boom mowing and assisting Weisenberg Township with community‑center paving.
The board discussed purchasing a used 4WD boom mower with approximately 4,600 hours. After brief discussion supervisors instructed staff to hold off on the purchase pending further review of options and budget impact.
In park business, volunteers installed picnic tables (picked from Municibid), spread mulch, mowed turf and installed new cameras at the 143 entrance; planned tasks include tree removal, stump grinding and replacing an overflow pipe in the large pond. Dennis Hartman of the Historical Society presented a revised Brown Design rendering for a proposed Historical Society building; the plan will require removal of two trees (and possibly a third) and will be revised to show the building in the park layout before a lease is drafted. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in August, per the committee.
Joe Mule of the Ontelaunee Gun Club requested township assistance in pursuing a grant for a skeet range; the board tabled the request while stakeholders explore modifications to address public‑interest concerns.
