Residents urge Bridgeport to fix overgrown Lime Alley; council says code enforcement issues cited and paving planned

Margaret Kelly, who lives on Bush Street and said Lime Alley behind her property is not maintained, asked who is responsible for upkeep. "I feel like I live in a jungle," Kelly said, describing branches that hang over cars and yards. She said some nearby properties do not maintain their yards and that citations do not appear to have corrected behavior.
A council member and staff explained that the borough's code-enforcement team actively issues citations and tickets and that some property owners pay fines without correcting violations. The official said the borough has two code-enforcement staff who split time between building-permit inspections and annual rental inspections, and that proactive enforcement is performed when resources permit. The council member said Lime Alley is "substandard in terms of the actual traveling surface" and is expected to be paved next year.
Residents said they collect nails and help with cleanup, and encouraged neighbors to report issues to the borough for faster response. The council member welcomed those reports and encouraged residents to continue notifying staff when problems occur.
Next steps: the council asked residents to report specific problem properties and said the borough will continue enforcement and pursue paving the alley in the coming year.
