President Burton opened the Committee of the Whole on June 8 and said the evening was meant for discussion, not voting, and that formal votes would be taken at next week's regular meeting. Mrs. Oakquist presented the recommended 2026–27 board calendar, including a July 13 special meeting (open session for candidate selection with a closed-session segment), two board workshops (Oct. 26 and Mar. 1) and a recurring pattern of study sessions, committee meetings and regular meetings through June 14, 2027.
The calendar also reflects time-of-day changes: study sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m., committee meetings will move to a 6:00 p.m. start and regular meetings will remain at 6:30 p.m. The board asked staff to correct day labels for July 22 (to Wednesday) and July 30 (to Thursday) and placed the calendar on the agenda for next week's voting meeting so members can formally adopt it.
Mrs. Oakquist also updated the board on the superintendent search: stakeholder surveys and public stakeholder meetings have concluded and the search consultant MLI is compiling results. She said the position announcement will be finalized June 22 and posted June 24 through July 8, with subsequent candidate review and selection activity scheduled through the summer. No votes were taken at the committee meeting; the calendar and any search-related approvals will be scheduled for the regular board meeting next week.
