The board heard the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) executive summary for 2026‑27. Chantel told trustees the district’s three LCAP goals continue to address the state’s eight priorities across conditions of learning, pupil outcomes and engagement.
Key actions cited for the coming year include continued funding for intervention instructional materials and professional development focused on learning loss, maintaining reduced class sizes in TK–3, expanding CTE and AVID sections at Norris Middle School (and piloting AVID strategies at BMAT), enhancing enrichment and field‑trip opportunities for unduplicated students, and adding teacher device replenishment and an inventory/inventory management system. The plan also proposes a technology support position to handle expanded device and software needs and potential security camera upgrades at Norris Middle School.
Chantel said most actions are districtwide continuations rather than major new initiatives, and that the district will include dollar amounts for greater transparency in action tables. The public hearing opened and closed at the meeting with no public comments recorded.
Next steps: the LCAP will move forward through the regular adoption process and staff will incorporate stakeholder input into the finalized document.
