Beyond major land‑use items, the City of Freeport council took routine and planning actions on June 9.
Sewer: Council approved a motion to pay Chelco $212,456 for sewer service work; the motion carried with all councilmembers present voting in the affirmative.
Events: Council approved a baseball tournament request for the sports complex on August 1–2 covering fields 1–4; the applicant was present and the motion carried unanimously.
Planning contracts: Planning staff asked council to approve two scopes of services with Anchor CI. First, a pedestrian/multimodal master plan scope totaling $206,180 will be funded mostly with a Safe Routes for All (SR4A) grant of $168,000; staff proposed covering the $38,180 gap from the streets line item and council approved. Second, Anchor CI will assist with the comprehensive plan update under a scope of $76,570; most funding is expected from technical assistance grants with a small $1,570 local match. Council approved both scopes.
Council noted a minor typo in the pedestrian plan funding memo (the difference is $38,180 and would come from the streets line item), and planning staff and finance confirmed available local match funding.
Votes on these items were unanimous among councilmembers present; staff will proceed with contract execution and event permit issuance.
