At its meeting, the Fannin County Board of Commissioners approved several routine administrative items: a courthouse firewall replacement, an appointment to a library board, and a scheduling change.
Trent Lowry, the county’s Emergency Management Agency coordinator, presented a replacement firewall for the courthouse network with a total price of $9,890.87, which the county said includes a licensing component and three years of premium support. Staff said the device will be installed through the county's current contractor, ETC, under the existing service contract; the three-year support plan will require future renewal when it expires. A commissioner moved, seconded and the board approved the purchase by voice vote.
The board also approved the appointment of Lisa Daugherty to a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026, on the Panola County Library Board of Trustees. Daugherty was present and confirmed her willingness to serve; commissioners thanked outgoing member Nick Wimberly for his service.
Separately, commissioners voted to cancel the scheduled June 23 meeting due to an anticipated absence by one commissioner. The board adjourned after handling those items and completing the public-comment period.
The firewall purchase and the appointment were approved on voice votes; staff said the firewall’s ongoing support costs beyond three years are unknown and will be addressed at renewal time.
