Martin County approves consent agenda, appoints ABC board member and passes three budget amendments

At its Aug. 14 meeting the Martin County Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda, appointed an ABC Board member and adopted three budget amendments affecting veterans services, Cooperative Extension and Adult & Aging Services.

The consent agenda included July 10 minutes, the June 2019 financial report and a list of tax relief orders and refunds documenting $5,011.04 in adjustments. As part of consent, the board approved the appointment of James T. Fleming to the Martin County ABC Board for a three‑year term expiring July 31, 2022.

Tax Collector Christy Blevins presented the annual settlement of taxes for fiscal year ending June 30, 2019: the meeting packet showed a tax levy of $17,625,158.08 and cash collections totaling $17,049,399.08 for the year, with summary line items provided in the tax report.

On budget amendments, the board approved three requests presented by County Manager David Bone in Finance Director Cindy Ange’s absence: (1) reauthorize $1,903 in veterans transportation grant funds for veteran rides provided by Martin County Transit; (2) increase the Cooperative Extension 4‑H fund by $3,348 (including $2,000 in restricted revenue and $1,348 from fund balance) for Eat Smart Move More and EFNEP programming; and (3) accept an additional $2,353 for Adult & Aging Services from N.C. Division of Aging for services including home delivered meals and transportation.

All motions on the consent agenda and the three budget amendments were approved unanimously by the members present.
