School board approves multiple hires and coaching appointments

The Northumberland County Public Schools Board approved a slate of personnel actions Tuesday, voting unanimously to accept several certified hires, coaching appointments and substitute teacher lists.
Board members approved pending background checks and fingerprinting for certified hires including Tiffany Wittmann (NMS science teacher), Alexander Maulson (NMS NHS course teacher), Leah Weston (NMSA teacher) and Katherine Stewart (NES PAR professional). The board also approved a list of coaching appointments, naming Aaron Lewis as head football coach and Tommy Thompson as head volleyball coach among others. The approvals were made by motion and carried by a 5-0 voice vote.
The board accepted the rescinded resignation of Jennifer Davis and approved the resignations of Sarah Gordon (NMS science teacher) and April Walker (NMS ELA teacher). The board also approved 28 substitute teachers pending background checks and fingerprinting.
All of the personnel motions were moved and seconded during the consent portion of the meeting and recorded as carrying five to zero. The clerk will ensure that background checks and fingerprinting are completed before hires are finalized. The board did not record individual roll-call votes or name the motion movers in the public record.
The board adjourned the personnel portion of the agenda and proceeded to presentations and the finance report.
