Parent urges board to revisit seven-game suspension of senior volleyball player

The parent read a letter from Anthony Gonzalez, head volleyball coach at P Centennial High School, which praised the studentreferred to in the letter as "Catalina Salis"as hardworking, respectful and coachable, and asked the board to consider the girl's character and past record in any future discipline decisions. "I cannot speak on what might have prompted Cat to discontinue her senior season," Gonzalez wrote in the letter, "I can say she is hardworking, dedicated and respectful."
The parent said the suspension effectively ended the student's senior season and asked the board to ensure future discipline is proportional and consistently applied. Board members listened during the comment period; the item moved on to subsequent agenda business.
