Parents urge caution after public records suggest prior criminal allegations against a proposed classroom teacher

Multiple parents and community members used the non-agenda public-comment period to press the board for immediate review after learning of public criminal records they said relate to a teacher the district is considering placing in elementary classrooms.

Aaron Adams, representing a group of Tularitos parents, said the group delivered a petition and court documents to district officials and asked the board to act urgently. 22We are asking the district to hear that concern, recognize it as reasonable, and work with families to restore confidence,22 Adams said. Brian Landry told the board the goal was not to punish any employee but to protect students while alternatives are considered, asking the district to place the employee in a non-student-facing role if necessary.

Several speakers cited a pattern of public behavior described in court documents and media posts and said the district should not allow a staff member with those records into direct contact with young children while the community's questions remain. Other speakers emphasized due process and cautioned against overreach; one commenter said the person had not been convicted and asked the board to rely on official outcomes.

District staff took the comments as part of the public record. Board members did not take action during the meeting; closed-session items later included public-employee matters and the board reported it provided direction to legal counsel and staff after adjournment.
