Aberdeen schedules June 22 hearings for UDO text amendment and Aberdine Station zoning changes

The Aberdeen Town Board voted June 8 to schedule public hearings for June 22 on two land-use items: text amendment TA2605 to chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 of the Unified Development Ordinance and amendments to conditional zoning case CZ2201 at Aberdine Station.
Staff told the board the UDO changes are part of a multi-chapter update and that the proposed conditional zoning amendments for Aberdine Station were recommended by the project team as the highest-and-best use adjustments for that site. Staff said both requests meet the UDO threshold that requires a formal public hearing and board approval before changes can be adopted.
The board voted to schedule both hearings for 6 p.m. on June 22. Staff said the items are included in the meeting packet and that the planning board will review and provide a recommendation before the council meeting. Staff also noted the timeline was advanced because of the July meeting schedule.
The hearings will provide an opportunity for written and in-person testimony before the board considers final action.
