ILO adopts first global convention for platform economy work

According to the briefing, the convention addresses a broad range of issues affecting platform workers, including rights and protection against violence and harassment, fair remuneration, social protection and transparency and accountability in the use of algorithms and automated decision-making. The staff member framed adoption of the convention as a response to the rapid growth of the platform economy and its implications for decent work.
The briefing noted the convention was adopted by the ILO's membership of government, employer and worker delegates representing its 187 member states; it did not include details about the timing or ratification process for individual countries.
