Wildwood commissioners adopt nuisance, water-sewer ordinance and approve $2.19M boardwalk ADA package

The Wildwood Board of Commissioners met May 27 and moved quickly through its agenda, adopting two ordinances, introducing a traffic ordinance, and approving a slate of resolutions that included a major boardwalk accessibility and security funding measure.
Mayor Ernest Troiano called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.; Commissioners Krista McConnell and Steve Mikulski were present and the City Clerk read the Open Public Meetings Act notice. The Board first approved minutes from April 29 and May 13 before turning to ordinances and resolutions.
The commission opened and closed the public hearing for Ordinance No. 1354-26, which amends Chapter 10 governing water and sewer utility abatement claims; there were no public comments and the ordinance was adopted on second reading. The Board then adopted Ordinance No. 1355-26, which amends the city nuisance ordinance to include commercial properties. Both ordinance adoptions were carried by motions (mover: Ernest Troiano; seconder: Steve Mikulski) and recorded roll-call votes of Yes from McConnell, Mikulski and Troiano.
The Board also introduced Ordinance No. 1356-26 (amending Chapter 6A-5, Schedule V governing stop intersections), which passed first reading and will return for later consideration.
On the consent/resolution portion of the agenda the Clerk read a slate of items (Resolutions 230-5-26 through 249-5-26). Among the notable approvals were amendments to water-works supply contracts, an increase in a contract for water parts, an amendment reducing the municipal solicitor contract amount, and authorization to submit a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection technical assistance grant application to fund engineering and design work for the city’s I-Bank Lead Service Replacement Program (Phases 4–10).
The Board also authorized a HUD ADA Access and Security Improvements grant for the Boardwalk (Resolution No. 242-5-26) in the amount of $2,185,000 and approved payment of bills dated May 27 totaling $4,810,636.59 plus an additional bill list of $42,120.00. The slate of resolutions and contract actions passed by roll call following a motion by Commissioner McConnell and a second by Commissioner Mikulski.
Mayor Troiano referenced the FY2027 NJDOT Municipal Aid reconstruction of Burk Avenue and asked the municipal solicitor to contact NJ Transit about a possible contribution to project costs. The Board also approved a raffle application from Byron Pennington Croker Post 184 American Legion for a July 10 event.
The meeting closed following public comment and a motion to adjourn at 5:38 p.m. Final roll call at adjournment recorded McConnell as absent, Mikulski Yes and Troiano Yes.

What happens next - Ordinance 1356-26 will return for subsequent readings, and the solicitor will contact NJ Transit about Burk Avenue funding. The mayor said he will follow up with Public Works about trash receptacle placement raised during public comment.
