The board recognized two departures at the June 9 meeting. Kiara Null, described by the chair as a de facto board member for the year, said she will attend SUNY Geneseo in the fall to study archaeology with a minor in political science. The board thanked her for her service.
John Bickford received a plaque and public remarks acknowledging 32 years on the board and 45 years of connection to the district. Bickford reflected on stewardship and the district’s educational “foundation.” Board members and the public applauded the long tenure.
Later in the meeting the board adjourned to executive session to discuss personnel, confidential student records and contract negotiations; the board returned to open session and approved an amendment to Superintendent Rebecca Chanel’s employment agreement before adjourning the meeting at approximately 9:22 p.m.
