Mahwah Schools Foundation reports $51,000 in grants; board recognizes student achievements

Representatives of the Mahwah Schools Foundation updated the board on a successful year of fundraising and grants during the June 10 meeting. Ko Donahue, co-vice president of the MSF, said the foundation approved more than $51,000 in grants that funded items including a reading machine at Lape Meadows, a Seed-to-Science program at George Washington, media-center materials for K— schools, music risers, kindergarten mindfulness and movement, merge cubes for science, and a wellness room at Ramapo Ridge.
The board publicly thanked foundation volunteers and accepted a photo opportunity to recognize the foundation—s support. The meeting also included student representatives who reported on senior breakfast, prom, spring sports championships and arts awards; board members praised 55 career-pathway endorsements and recognized retiring staff announced later in the meeting.
No formal vote was required for the foundation report. Board members asked the foundation to coordinate a check presentation photo and noted the impact of the grants across all six district schools.
