OSAC reviews preservation sites, celebrates open-house turnout and hears requests for additional board members

At its June 3 meeting, the Midway Open Space Advisory Committee reviewed multiple preservation opportunities, discussed the April 11 Open Space Open House and heard that Preserve Midway is recruiting additional board members.
Brad Winegar of Preserve Midway updated the committee on recent activities and ongoing outreach to landowners about conservation easements; Preserve Midway also said it is seeking additional board members. Committee members discussed how conservation easements, environmental considerations and trail connections factor into long-term preservation strategies for sites including Cemetery Ridge, Hamlet and Burgi Hill, and directed additional research and discussion to continue on those parcels.
Committee members reviewed the Open House outcomes, noting public participation and collaboration with Wasatch County Open Lands and Summit Land Conservancy. The Committee discussed providing an OSAC update to the City Council on July 7, 2026. Separately, Steve Stevens provided a Wasatch County Open Lands update covering outreach efforts, upcoming events and bond funding considerations.
The committee approved the April 1, 2026 meeting minutes as amended to add Council Member Kevin Payne to the attendance record. The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:05 PM.
