Gerlock CAB approves May minutes, hears public-safety updates and county engagement tools

The Gerlock Empire Citizens Advisory Board opened at 6 p.m., completed roll call and approved the minutes from its May 14 meeting by voice vote with no public opposition.
Deputy Cruz of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reported recent calls to the area, including a domestic incident, a motor-vehicle crash and a plane crash, and answered a question about the next date for convicts to perform lawn work (July 23). Cory Vaughn of Royal Ambulance reported no missed calls in May and provided year-to-date call totals: 58 total calls, 19 ground transports and two air transports.
Greg Nielson of the Gerlock Volunteer Fire Department described recent responses alongside Royal Ambulance and Marsha County Search and Rescue to incidents including a plane crash, noted intermittent dispatch problems and asked residents to call him directly if there is an emergency. Nielson also announced the graduation of a new volunteer and discussed interagency cooperation.
Washoe County staffer Candy Ramos demonstrated the county’s neighborhood development hub and community input portal, noting the Iverson Ranch employee-housing meeting was posted on May 26 and explaining how residents can sign up for district emails or submit feedback online.
During the meeting’s public-comment periods, local residents offered brief remarks: a community member thanked neighbors for on-scene assistance after a recent biking accident, one commenter noted a young local’s workforce debut, and an online participant (Miss Yarte) offered continued assistance to the community after an election primary.
The board made a routine motion to adjourn, which carried, and the meeting concluded with plans to follow up on outstanding requests (including re-inviting the Washoe County School District presenter).
