Resident urges protective netting after recurring baseball damage to home

A Piscataway resident told the council that baseballs from a nearby field have repeatedly struck her property and shattered solar panels, and she asked the township to commit to installing protective netting while officials investigate.
At the June 11 council meeting, Rayna Reinoso of 30 Stanton Avenue asked Piscataway officials to commit to installing protective netting at a nearby ballfield after repeated incidents in which baseballs have entered her yard and damaged property. Reinoso said the problem has persisted since she moved to the house in 2024 and that collisions shattered a solar panel on Aug. 3, 2025 and again early in the June 2026 season.
"These baseballs continue to land [on] my property," Reinoso said, describing months of email follow-ups with recreation staff and a March 2026 conversation with Director John Tierney in which she was told township insurance had declined netting. She asked the council to "commit to installing proper baseline protective netting before additional damage occurs or worse, someone in my yard [is] severely injured."
Council members said they were not previously aware of the full extent of the problem and asked staff to investigate and follow up with the resident. The council did not make a specific commitment to install netting at the meeting; members said they would look further into the matter and provide an update.
