"At this time I wanted to make a few points... OACS is fully funded," Dwire said, explaining the budget relies on per‑pupil funding and other revenue assumptions.
Highlights and planned expenditures included a $25,000 line item to cover anticipated costs for Disney‑related litigation/mediation per counsel's recommendation, $85,000 budgeted to replace aging student computers, upgrades to fire alarm loops and building maintenance (painting, portable skirting, landscaping), and anticipated grant support (Title IV, Title II and smaller garden/safety grants). Dwire also said the school began receiving a monthly share of local sales tax under Florida statute 212.055 but the full annual amount remains to be confirmed.
Staffing was summarized as 26 classrooms with 41 full‑time instructional/support staff and additional part‑time and substitute staffing plans. Dwire and the commission discussed enrollment volatility (she said the school lost about 10 students midyear last year) and the timing of state revenue adjustments.
