Burbank park board sets special facility tour for Sept. 17, adds Earthwalk drive-by stop

The Burbank Parks and Recreation Board voted on June 11 to hold a special facility tour on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., visiting DeBell Golf Club, Santa Anita Playlot, Robert Gross Park and Ralph Foy Park and adding a brief stop at Earthwalk Park by Lucille Cow Swim School.
Board members discussed proposed dates and locations after Administrative Analyst Megan Wilkkey presented options including Sept. 10, Sept. 17, Oct. 8 and Oct. 15. Wilkkey said the Sept. 10 and Oct. 8 dates coincide with regular board meetings and would replace those scheduled meetings if selected.
During discussion, a board member suggested the board had never visited Earthwalk Park and recommended a short drive-by to view planned play equipment replacement; staff said a drive-by could be added without requiring members to disembark.
A motion to hold the special meeting on Sept. 17 and include the Earthwalk stop was moved and seconded; the board recorded unanimous votes in favor with Chair Mickey Depalo, Vice Chair Robbie Brody, Board member Farah Assadi, Board member Maisha Gamino and Board member Armisia voting yes.
Ending: The board formalized the date and locations for the facility tour and asked staff to finalize logistics; the board will receive details on the tour schedule and sites in advance of the September meeting.
