Morgan County Schools board approves consent agenda, several contracts and introduces new assistant principal

The Morgan County Schools board approved a multi-item consent agenda and a series of contracts and policy updates at its business meeting, and members welcomed a new assistant principal, Mr. Matt Morris.
Board members voted unanimously to adopt the meeting agenda and to approve the consent agenda, which included a ground-services bid addendum (Bid No. 25-11) and multiple routine items. The board also approved revisions to Morgan County Schools policy 4.06 (Title IX / anti-harassment) and policy 5.21 (Teachers' Bill of Rights).
Members approved pricing from Limestone Building Group for value engineering and construction of five greenhouse sites at several schools; Mr. Tarpley moved the greenhouse motion and Mr. Clark seconded. The board unanimously approved a contract between the Pioneer Region Regional Educational Service Agency and Morgan County Schools for a Compliance Director subscription (an online training platform to be used approximately July 15 through April 30). The board also approved a change order dated April 8, 2026, from Joe Wheeler EMC for the Danville High School HBAC project.
The board approved technology and compensation items including Option Two from Amazon for esports equipment and the Morgan County School salary schedule for 2026–2027. It approved a six-year quote from Art of Education for a K–12 visual art curriculum suite and authorized the vacation of a Clark Drive right-of-way. The board approved stipend budgets for two half-day implementation trainings for history teachers on July 13, 2026, and a $100 stipend for teachers attending a July 21, 2026, planning day; the $100 stipend was identified as funded by a "first 10 community grant" for a named elementary school.
Superintendent recommendations for personnel items numbered 1 through 83 were presented and approved in a single vote. The meeting was adjourned following those approvals.
After the meeting business, Mr. White introduced the district's new assistant principal, Mr. Matt Morris, and praised his character: "I can be a little hyper and a little loud. This man is neither one of them," Mr. White said, welcoming Morris to the school. The meeting concluded soon afterward.
