Talbot County recognizes Cassandra Vanhuser as she accepts state tourism post

Cassandra Vanhuser told the Talbot County Council on June 9 that she has accepted a position as managing director at the Maryland Department of Commerce Office of Tourism.
"I'm Cassandra Vanhuser. I'm the director currently the director of economic development and tourism for Talba County. However, I have accepted the position of managing director of the Maryland Department of Commerce, Office of Tourism," Vanhuser said, speaking to the council after being invited to the dais.
Council members read a certificate of recognition recounting Vanhuser’s more than 13 years of service, including her work redesigning the Office of Tourism website, creating an economic indicator dashboard, and leading the county’s broadband and tourism efforts. The certificate also noted awards the county office won under her leadership and her 2025 statewide recognition.
Council members thanked Vanhuser for her work and expressed pride that a county leader will serve at the state level; Vanhuser said she will continue to live in Talbot County and remains committed to local initiatives.
The council presented the certificate and gave Vanhuser applause and best wishes for her new role.
