Gage County Board of Equalization approves one-year maintenance agreements with two appraisal vendors

The Gage County Board of Equalization voted unanimously June 10 to approve two one-year maintenance agreements with outside appraisal vendors.

The board approved a maintenance agreement with Cardinal Assessment Group covering July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Chair said the vendor’s appraiser, referred to in the meeting as Josh, has been handling assessments on multiple properties. After a motion and second, the board recorded a 5–0 vote in favor and the motion carried.

The board then approved a maintenance agreement with Standard Appraisal Services for the same contract year. Chair identified Darryl Standard as the contractor who has handled commercial property appraisals "primarily for the last several years." The motion to approve was recorded as 5 in favor and carried.

Board members did not amend contract terms during the meeting and did not record any abstentions. Chair closed the items by advising property owners who have valuation concerns to contact the assessor’s office before filing formal protests: “Try to take care of it ahead of time,” the Chair said.

The meeting also included a brief announcement that the board will hold a closed session later in the agenda for security and potential litigation. Counsel indicated agreement with that placement on the agenda. The equalization portion of the meeting adjourned at 08:49.

What the votes mean: both items were routine maintenance agreements to retain external appraisal services for the next fiscal year; neither contract text nor dollar amounts were provided during the meeting minutes or discussion.
