Middleton Airport re-elects chair, names vice chair and reviews manager’s report and finances

The Middleton Airport Commission reappointed its chair and selected an officer to serve as vice chair at the June 4 meeting, then reviewed staff updates and approved the airport’s monthly finances.

Commissioners nominated and approved Commissioner Lurman to continue as chair and nominated David Schwarz as vice chair; both nominations were seconded and approved by voice vote. The transcript records affirmative voice responses but does not include a roll‑call tally.

In a manager’s report covering April 28–May 29, staff reported 27 overflight/noise reports from five individuals (one person submitted 22 reports). Brian said no FAA regulation violations were apparent in the reports and noted ongoing mowing, brush clearing and outreach: a BOA survey of the airport took place May 13 and multiple community events and training seminars were held in May. Staff also said Meen Hunt (consultant) is working on wetland delineation needed for a drainage study; the results should feed into a drainage study and staff expects an update closer to the end of the summer. Brian said the airport is coordinating required environmental documents with BOA for a runway rehabilitation project and hopes to complete environmental work this summer and pursue BOA review in the fall for the 2027 funding cycle.

Commissioners approved the monthly financial reports as presented after a finance staff report produced a more detailed revenue/expenditure view from the city’s Cassell system; the motion passed by voice vote. One commissioner asked staff to convey the commission’s gratitude to finance staff for creating the clearer report.

Other operational updates included: availability of 94UL unleaded avgas for training aircraft, acquisition of a refurbished Jet A fueling truck to enter service after pump certification, and discussion of ongoing ramp/runup practices related to lease and development questions.
