Chickasaw County home-health program reports 56-person census; Mercy One credentialing complete

Lisa Welter, administrator for the Chickasaw County Public Health Agency, reported to the Board of Health on May 8 that the county’s home-health census stood at 56 in April, including 7 Medicare, 1 Medicare HMO, 22 Medicaid and 14 VA patients. She also reported 13 referrals, seven admissions, six failed admissions and five discharges in the month.
Welter said the program recorded 128 nurse visits, 245 aide visits, 203 homemaker visits and 53 therapy visits during the reporting period. She told the board that credentialing with Mercy One insurance had been completed, a step that may affect billing and patient access.
The report was delivered as part of the board’s routine operational updates; no formal board action was taken on service levels. The board approved claims and payroll later in the meeting and scheduled a follow-up meeting for June 12, 2026.
